August 1, 2007 – Minutes
Eaton Township Municipal Building
Rt. 29S – Tunkhannock, PA

President Jeff Mitchell called the meeting to order at 7:08 pm.

Secretary’s Report

Minutes: Patti Kendig reviewed the minutes of the June 6, 2007 meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was carried.

Vice-President/Treasurer’s Report

Linda Coolbaugh reported that the balance in the checking after Income and Disbursements is $1534.25. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was carried.

Other Business

Jeff Mitchell reported that DCNR is coming closer to making a deal  with the owners of the mountain.

The Conservation District is now actively working on seeking financing for the matching funds.

When we get more news, we need to start focusing on possible fundraising techniques to help raise money for the acquisition of the mountain and hopefully to keep raising money to help put the mountain back into shape.  We will need to work with North Branch to help us toward this goal.

Patti Kendig mentioned that we should ask Carlos to take down our previous website at Tunkhannock.com and asking him to provide a link to our new website instead, because having 2 websites with conflicting information was very confusing.  Jeff said he would ask carlos to do that.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 PM.

Vice-President Linda Coolbaugh called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm.

Secretary’s Report

Minutes: Patti Kendig reviewed the minutes of the March 7, 2007 meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was carried.

Vice-President/Treasurer’s Report

Linda Coolbaugh reported that the balance in the checking remains the same as last month at $1313.42. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was carried.

Other Business

Frank Oliver  reported that the status of the mountain looks good as far as DCNR is concerned.  The mountain is a high priority and they are moving forward towards that goal.

We discussed “laying low” for a while and letting DCNR do it’s work.

Frank also suggested that if we take the county “growing greener money” that we cannot use it for matching funs to supplement the grant money because it all comes from DCNR.  He suggested that we might need some of that money when the mountain is acquired to help put it back in shape. (planting trees, helping with trails, etc.)

Our grant is being re-submitted.  We now have to just wait for the results.

We have decided not to do any “Preserve Miller Mountain” ads at the Dietrich as previously discussed.  We talked about perhaps in the future to advertise there for memberships only.

We also discussed that we should not do too many events this summer, due to the limited amount of information that we would have for the public while DCNR moves forward.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 PM.
